Since 1948, Western New Yorkers have ventured to South Buffalo for the freshly made sponge candy sticks of Park Edge Sweet Shoppe.
Park Edge is one of the only shops that still freshly produces sponge several times a week, and they are home of the original sponge candy sticks.
The sisters, Anna with a Master’s in business and Maggie with two degrees from the Culinary Institute of America, stepped in and continued the business as the third owners in the fall of 2011.
At the start of the 2014 season, they recruited long time friend of Maggie and seasoned chocolatier, Allison Connelly, from Long Island. She has expanded and improved the line of truffles and creams, as well as developed many of the new recipes used today.
Noël Ormond, a long time Park Edge employee, was promoted to chocolatier in 2016 and works alongside Maggie and Allison in the kitchen, helping make the classic confections and create new treats.
Aside from Anna, Maggie and the chocolatiers, Park Edge has a wonderful group who works hard day in and day out to make sure every product looks beautiful and tastes amazing!
